Accidentally in love Review

 Accidentally in love

Synopsis

Accidentally in love or also known as  惹上冷殿下 is a show that was released in 2018 by Mango TV. It is made of 30 episodes and each episode is around 30 minutes, you can currently watch it in Netflix.

This show is mainly based around a girl: 陳青情, this girl has a big secret which is revealed to the audience in the first episode. 陳青情 moved to Yuncheng to attend a prestigious University, she seems like an ordinary girl, but in reality she is so much more and has quite a great personality. In her University she meets her classmate 司徒枫, 司徒枫 is a rich idol who seems to have quite temper, but still he is loved by most people.

During the show we follow their story, throughout friendship, love, heartbreak, grief and so much more.

Review:

Over the years I have watched this show more than 5 times, some in English and others completely in Chinese. This show is quite lighthearted and even thought it's based in a University it feels a bit childish and wholesome, which is quite different from the shows we see in the West, but for this very same reason at times you may find it a bit cringy and unbelievable.

This story fits in so many tropes, its part of the enemies to lovers trope, dating your idols, double identities, love triangles, etc. so you can see it's quite a ride, but that's what keeps it interesting.

In my opinion this is a great show when you want to clear up your mind, because there is so much going on that it will probably keep your attention. As I mentioned earlier at times it can be cringy, but this might just be a cultural difference, because in my country we have quite a different view about relationships. The main plot is quite predictable, but still some aspects will surprise you.

The good

Something that I really enjoyed was the main couple I felt that they actually had chemistry, and unlike other Cdramas their relationship wasn't toxic, I felt like they complement each other. I also liked that the gender roles that we usually see in relationships weren't reinforced, the male character still felt masculine but not in a toxic way. But to be honest at times there were some comments that I felt were a bit out of place, but generally it felt different from the way a lot of Cdramas are.

Another thing that's important to mention is that the soundtrack is quite great, my favorite song from it is: 呼吸。

The not so good

Now lets move on to what I didn't like, I generally don't enjoy dramas where girls fight for a man, and they turned the second female lead into a villain, but I understand its part of the plot. Also, I felt that the plot will fit better if it was set  between the period of high school and University, because the way most characters behaved felt a bit childish, but the growth of the characters compensated for this.

Chinese Level

In my experience this show is not so hard to understand, the vocabulary used between the characters felt quite simple, because it was set on a school, but when it comes to the last episodes and the plot of 蓝馨雅 sister was a bit harder, because it introduces some vocabulary about health, which at an intermediate level I don't really know that vocabulary

To be honest, I enjoyed more the drama when I saw it in Chinese, some things just gets lost in translation,  for example: there is a part where the main male lead says that he sees 陳青青 as his 兄弟, they translate 兄弟 as best friend, and from my point of view I thought it was normal that he saw her as his best friend, and I think that you can eventually have feelings for your best friend, that's why I didn't understand why she was mad when he said that, but then when I saw it in Chinese I realized the original word was: 兄弟 which can be better translated to brother (my bro), so her reaction made a lot more sense.

Manhuas, a game changer for improving your reading

How to use Manhuas to practice Chinese Improving your reading skills There are many ways to improve your Chinese skills, but when it comes to reading it's all about practice and constant immersion in the Chinese language, there are a lot of different resources that you can try like: books, articles, newspapers but the one I'm going to be focusing on this blog is practicing your reading through Manhuas (which are basically comics). Where can you find Manhuas? So there are a lot of different places where you can find them, for example if you want a physical copy you can find some on Amazon, but there's not a lot of variety, so the best options will be to read them online: there are some platforms that you can use for example: bilibili 漫画  or Webtoon , these two are both web platforms and Apps, so you can use them in the format that you prefer.  They are both free and quite easy to use, they quite similar, but the content in each one is quite different, another thing that is...

What is going on with the 把 structure ?

The 把 structure The reason behind why you need he 把 structure The 把 structure is mostly used to add emphasis, the emphasis is added in the verb/result as it changes their usual position. This structure can be quite confusing, because in most western languages we don't have a structure that is remotely similar, so there is not a direct translation.  Even though this structure is quite hard, it's also really important, in my opinion it is fundamental. In addition, you will encounter this structure early on in your language journey. In my case I learned this structure in the GoChinese 400, and I'm also I'm pretty sure it's part of the HSK 3 coursework. What is the infamous 把 structure?  This structure is quite strict, from what I have learned up to now, the 把 structure never changes. It always follows its original pattern, which is : Subject+把+Object+Verb+ Result   The main uses of the 把 structure: 1)To emphasize that an action has finished Subject+把+Object+Verb+好了/忘了 ...

Small victories youll encounter in your Chinese Journey

Your language journey Everybody has its own path when it comes to language learning, they are all beautiful but completely different, but there are some victories that will happen in most people's language journey. It's important to care about these victories and appreciate it them because these will help you to stay motivated. My experience Up to this point I have been studying Chinese for more than 2 years and a half and I honestly love this language, but I have had my rough patch, mainly when I first started to learn Chinese. I remember that there was a moment I really wanted to quit and this happened on my third module, which was around my 4th month studying Chinese, I was feeling quite frustrated because I was not able to understand a lot of things and I felt like I was not as good as my classmates and to be honest I was not enjoying it; but one on these small victories helped me to stay motivated, and I'm so glad that I was able ...
