Language learning and its struggles
To learn a language is quite an adventure, it can give you a sense of productivity and academic validation, but from time to time these two things won't give you the feeling you want to achieve, or you might be so burnout that you don't seem to care, which can lead you to feel shame and a sense of failure.
But this feeling is something most language learners have gone thought at least once, but there's always a way to get back on track, even though it can sometimes feel like that's impossible.
How to get back on track?
There's more than one way to do this, but the first thing you need to do is check where your abilities are at, because sometimes it might feel like you lost all your knowledge, so you just need to know on what level you are currently on, in my opinion the idea that you have lost all your knowledge is quite difficult to reach, the thing that happens is that you lost contact with the language, so your knowledge is not as fresh as it once was, but you can fix this by reading or practicing your flashcards.
Then you need to make a plan, if you still feel a bit tired start by something relatively simple: like a lesson per week, but if you are feeling a bit more motivated I'll recommend you to set a goal and make a habit tracker, so you can reach it. Habit trackers are a great way to keep you aware of how much you are studying and after some time they can even help you identify your patterns so that you can later fix them, by this I mean that you'll see that if you study every day for a certain amount and then out of nowhere you stop studying for quite some time, and this happens more than once then this might a pattern of burnout. That's why it's quite beneficial to identify your patterns so that you can fix it.
Another way to do it is: gradually, for example you can start by getting passive or intensive immersion in your target language, then you can start reviewing flashcards, to finally get to the point where you can study using your books.
Finally, if you really feel like you can't keep yourself on track, you can try starting a studygram, this is a great option, because you'll keep yourself accountable, and it might give you motivation, also the studygram community might make you feel understood. On the other have, if you have the possibility to take language classes, do it because when you have a teacher it's a bit easier to stay on track.
Remember you're not alone in this, we have all gone through ruff patches, and you too can get through it
