The beauty of learning chinese

Chinese Language

Mandarin is currently one of the hardest languages to learn, it has more than 1.2 billion speakers, and it's the official language of 5 countries,  but Mandarin is more than just a useful language, it is also a beautiful language that is filled with culture and history.

My story with Mandarin Chinese

I wish I could tell you a more interesting story on why I chose to learn Chinese, but in reality I started to learn this language because there was a Chinese language school near my house and I had a lot of free time, but this small decision has changed the course of my life.
Now that I have been learning Chinese for more than 2 years, I have a lot more reasons on why Chinese is the best language to give your time to.

Chinese writing system

Every aspect of this language is beautiful, but the one that I find specially pretty is the Chinese writing system, even though it's quite hard to remember each character, there is a certain logic behind chinese characters for example: 口 this character means mouth, and you can see it in the following words:  口语 (language), 口红 (lipstick)  口罩 (face mask) and this happens with a lot more characters which makes it easier to remember them.

Sense of achievement

As in every language the more you learn, the more you understand and this gives you the constant feeling that you are improving, one of my biggest milestones is when I started to be able to read Chinese poems and understand a bit more of what people say in Chinese social media, there aren't a lot of translations of Chinese stories or the things that are currently trendy in China, so when you are finally able to understand them a new world opens up for you.

Global view

Chinese culture is really different from what we see in the west so certain slangs and words simply can't be translated, so when you start learning Chinese you also need to start learning their culture, so you can truly understand this language, but this is something that you will probably find interesting, because Chinese culture is so diverse, and it will always surprise you.

Chinese might be hard, but once you grasp the basics of  the language you will start to love it

What is going on with the 把 structure ?

The 把 structure The reason behind why you need he 把 structure The 把 structure is mostly used to add emphasis, the emphasis is added in the verb/result as it changes their usual position. This structure can be quite confusing, because in most western languages we don't have a structure that is remotely similar, so there is not a direct translation.  Even though this structure is quite hard, it's also really important, in my opinion it is fundamental. In addition, you will encounter this structure early on in your language journey. In my case I learned this structure in the GoChinese 400, and I'm also I'm pretty sure it's part of the HSK 3 coursework. What is the infamous 把 structure?  This structure is quite strict, from what I have learned up to now, the 把 structure never changes. It always follows its original pattern, which is : Subject+把+Object+Verb+ Result   The main uses of the 把 structure: 1)To emphasize that an action has finished Subject+把+Object+Verb+好了/忘了 ...

How to choose the perfect novel or comic to learn chinese  Where to buy Chinese books  To find books written in Chinese can be a bit complicated, there are a lot of websites that are usually recommended, for example: books.Taiwan, book depository, purple culture, cypress books and more;   In my case, I opted for another option because I tried buying from books.Taiwan but for a strange reason the order never went through, I think the problem was that all of the cards I tried to pay with were from Mexican banks, so I decided to buy them from Amazon, but as you can imagine there's not a lot of variety, additionally Chinese novels, comics, etc. are hard to find in that platform, because a lot of them don't appear if you look up their title in Chinese, in my experience the way I found the most books, was by searching: the title of the book (Chinese edition), and also by searching for the author instead of the book, another thing that's important to mention is that I used the U...
